speedART BTR-XL 600

Based on thePorsche 997 Turbo, the speedART BTR-XL 600 gains 120bhp over the ‘standard’ car.

This is thanks to a modified VTG turbo charger, sport exhaust with twin tail pipes, sport cats, headers, and an ECU tweak.

The result is 600bhp and 590ft-lb of torque, giving a 0-62mph of 3.2secs and top speed of 208mph.

Making sure it looks the part and keeping the aerodynamics in check, the BTR-XL body kit consists of a new front bumper, side skirts, rear diffuser and a rear spoiler with rear wing. The rear wing is available in body-colour or plain carbon.

You also get a set of sexy lightweight forged CTS (Challenge Twin Spoke) alloys in 8.5 and 11 x 20in, adjustable sport suspension, using either a Sachs or Bilstein set up, plus an individually designed interior, including sport seats, sport steering wheel and leather or alcantara trim.

Unsurprisingly, the modifications don’t come cheap: the body kit will set you back £6,650, while the BTR-XL power kit, comes in at a hefty £13,000. Nice though, ain’t it?

Hummer
Hummers are cool at the best of times, but when its riding on air bags, 26” chrome rims and is slammed so low it touches the deck it turns ice cold. Not only that but it is loaded with more ICE than the Arctic circle making this one of the best cars at the show.

Crossfire Eclipse
The Mitsubishi Eclipse is a car we have been deprived of in the UK but in the States they are big business. They feature the 4G63 engine usually found in the Mitsubishi Evo which makes them highly tuneable. However this car was all about the ICE. Loaded with Crossfire goodies and finished in a gorgeous Candy red paintjob it certainly got my attention. The dash has been completely re-created with the CD player moved to a consol built between the two front seats

At the back the rear window has been removed and replaced with a strange looking fibreglass pod which houses a couple of monitors, a sub and some components too.

The C-XF is a dynamic, new, four-door sport saloon concept that gives a clear indication of the design direction for the next-generation Jaguars. This is likely to begin with a replacement for the S-TYPE early in 2008.

The C-XF was designed by the same teams that produced the new Jaguar XK for 2005, led by Ian Callum, director of design, Jaguar Cars and Julian Thomson, head of advanced design. "One thing should be abundantly clear whenever people are discussing Jaguar design," asserts Callum, "Jaguars should be seen as modern cars and in the future people will appreciate them for that."

C-XF's Design

The C-XF design is very modern yet the design team took inspiration from great Jaguars of the past, including the 1950 Mark VII and the 1959 Mark 2, both designs that were influenced by sporting Jaguars including the XK120.

The front of the C-XF is dominated by a bold, aggressive grille that is set back deep into the body and finished in black chrome. The headlights are narrow and angular like a single slim wedge that evolve the twin-lamp motif so familiar from earlier Jaguars. A blue streak of light between the two lights creates the appearance of the iris of a cat when illuminated.

The main feature of the profile is a strong shoulder line that flows from the nose of the car, under the side glass and into the pronounced arch over the rear wheel. The cabin of the C-XF is low and sporty, with narrow glass and bright aluminum trim to accentuate the coupe-like feel. At the rear, the C-XF is also aggressive with the shoulder line flowing from the C-pillar to the tapered tail with a wide look that is emphasized by the lower diffuser - the area below the rear bumper that acts as an aerodynamic aid.

Callum describes the interior as "one of the most exciting interiors that Jaguar has ever done" with an emphasis on elegant performance rather than luxury that is first seen in the lightweight, sculpted front seats, trimmed with specially dyed, soft leather. The rear includes two bucket seats and a tall centre transmission tunnel gives the sense of sitting low in the car.

The interior has a tone-on-tone theme with a brushed aluminium facia that wraps around the interior. Other materials include a unique carbon fibre pattern leather and poplar wood that has been scorched for a rich feel.

"C-XF is a showcase for the innovative technologies, some of which will feature in one way or another on the next generation of Jaguar cars," says Callum. "Every Jaguar interior should have a sense of fun, but we also recognize that technology should only be there when you want to use it.

Power of the Jag

The C-XF is powered by an upgraded version of Jaguar's 4.2-litre supercharged V8 that is tuned to produce more than 420 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque at very low engine speeds¯combined with a six-speed automatic transmission with Jaguar Sequential Shift manual shift capability. The engine wiring is incased in Beru F1 System's unique Wire in Composite (WIC) technology that completely encloses the wiring in a carbon fibre sleeve.

"C-XF is the most dynamic and modern four-door car Jaguar has ever made, a design showcase heralding the next generations of our sports saloons. It signals a future for Jaguar that is as exciting as the C-XF itself," explains Callum.

A few years ago I remember seeing one of those “Police Slow” signs at the side of the road, upon which some wag had scrawled: “they are, aren’t they?”

Well if that gentleman or any other miscreant think they can outrun the long arm of the law, let me tell you, its reach has just got a lot longer thanks to a 640bhp Lamborghini Murcielargo LP640.

No more BMW 535d patrol cars for our boys in blue. Instead they will have a bellowing Italian 6.5-litre V12 and four-wheel-drive at their disposal, good for 211mph and 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds. That should have the joyriders giving up and coming quietly before they’ve even managed to hotwire the ignition. The world’s coolest cop car is going to be on display at the Metropolitan Police stand at the MPH ’06 show at London’s Earl’s Court Exhibition Centre which starts November 1st and runs until November 5th.
